"Acne"[Note 1] (ニキビ, Nikibi?) is the fourteenth chapter of Cells at Work!.
Short Summary[]
Neutrophil U-1146 finds an unnecessary amount of inflammation near a hair, caused by Acne bacteria overworking the sebaceous gland cells. U-1146 tries to attack the invading Acne, but he and a Hair Matrix Cell get split up from the others. He comes to know that because the hair's pore got clogged with dirt, the Acne bacteria took advantage of the excess sebum made as a result, creating a pimple and pus (dead white blood cells) as a result. While the Hair Matrix Cell's hopes are down, U-1146 assures him that he'll defend the body from the bacteria despite the odds of success. He makes its way to fight the alpha bacterium around the hair, inspiring the other sebaceous gland cells to aid him by filling the pore with sebum. As a result of the excess amount of sebum, the Acne bacterium slowed down enough for U-1146 to kill it. The Hair Matrix Cell thanks him afterward by giving him his hat as a memento.
