Lactic Acid Bacteria are minor characters featured in Cells at Work.
Appearance[]
Like the real-world bacteria on which they are based, Lactic Acid Bacteria take the form of slightly oblong blobs. They have a face on the smaller end of their body, consisting of two round eyes and a small mouth, and two flipper-like arms attached to their midsection. They have pairs of cow-like horns, which can regrow if broken off. They are seen in various colors, ranging from black and white to red and orange.
Lactic Acid Bacteria start out quite small, able to be held in an ordinary cell's hand. Adult Lactic Acid Bacteria can grow to be larger than an ordinary cell's house, but retain the same basic appearance.
Personality[]
They hold a puppy-like behaviour in which they tend to follow trustworthy cells around. They love to consume purines and other matter. But when the Pylori attacked, one particular bacteria acquired a hostile behaviour, while defeating the enemy.
Background[]
Lactic Acid Bacteria help the body with immunity, digestion, getting rid of excessive nutrients (purines), and activation of dendritic cells by making polysaccharides. Some even help rebuild the Intestinal Lining. Lactic Acid Bacteria are always cuddly and cute (at least inside Cells at Work!) Lactic Acid Bacteria is also a blanket term to many helpful bacteria.
