Sertoli cell

The Sertoli cell (セルトリ細胞 Serutori saibō?) is a sustentacular "nurse" cell of the testicles that is part of a seminiferous tubule and helps in the process of spermatogenesis, the production of sperm.

They are named after the Italian physiologist Enrico Sertoli who discovered them, and described them as "mother cells".
